I didn't want to blog. But I can't resist coz I just need to share this SONG!!
And this is the one by Sarah Brightman on Youtube.
Nella fantasia io vedo un mondo giusto,
Li tutti vivono in pace e in onestà.
Io sogno d'anime che sono sempre libere,
Come le nuvole che volano,
Pien' d'umanità in fondo all'anima.
Pien' d'umanità in fondo all'anima.
[English translation:]
In my fantasy I see a just world
Where everyone lives in peace and honesty
I dream of a place to live that is always free
Like a cloud that floats
Full of humanity in the depths of the soul
In my fantasy I see a bright world
Where each night there is less darkness
I dream of souls that are always free
Like the cloud that floats
In my fantasy exists a warm wind
That breathes into the city, like a friend
I dream of souls that are always free
Like the cloud that floats

I heard this song many times before but never got down to knowing it's name. On Wed (16/04/08) when I went for the World Choir Voice Day 2008 (first time held in Singapore) at Esplanade with Gerald, his friend Gerald, Jeffrey and Harris (we met Seng Hong there, and seeing many familiar faces). Joel performed solo with a few other soloists and so did MJ!!
Anyway, the soloists sang this song together and it was quite nice! and I am hooked on it :)
And hooked on Sarah Brightman too :)
SHE ROCKS WITH HER HIGH NOTES!!
That reminds me of the horrible voice test harris and i went for today as huai zhi's research participants. Harris and I scissors-paper-stone-ed to see who went first and he lost! So he went first! hehe!
Oh dear...I thought it was horrible but Huai Zhi said it was ok. I couldn't pitch properly and it was either flat or sharp. As what Harris said, as I went down, I got flatter, as I went up, I got sharper! So off pitch!! And I wonder if I am like that during practice?! haiz...
Excuses: It was 11+ am. Still too early to sing anything. Didn't warm up. (But Hz said just usual voice. Don't need warm up.) Didn't drink water. Mind not thinking.
I was quite disappointed with my own performance. I couldn't even hold a note for 8 secs without wavering. (well, just now.) and hz said as loud as possible. totally not loud. "Now, go soft". started and then went to the softest so fast instead of gradual! I didn't have a good control of my voice just now. ARGH!!
And we said to "Ah..." How difficult can it get!
But guess what, my most comfortable note that I can sustain and control well is High G#! Not very high but I thought it should have been C. Oh well...
It's quite a fun experiment :) and seeing ranges of your voice and the quality of the voice! There's more to come and I am looking forward to it! Next would be how long can you sustain your breath! hehe! and learning exercises to improve tone and quality etc... and back for another of today's to see how we have improved :) (I want to sing higher and more solid powerful notes!!)
it's interesting! Any choristers interested, please let me know :)
