Delight in simple things!

I am typing this last post for the year 2007 and the first post of 2008 coz it's 1145pm now and I should be finishing this post when 2008 has set in. At this moment, I am really multi-tasking.

I am watching the countdown on channel 5 and watching Tokyo Juliet on my computer, and talking to Xuanie online, and talking to Di on the phone...and typing this entry! WOAH!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008 everyone!!


Oh well...

The new year is here and I do hope that it would be a better year as compared to 2007.

As a reflection, I feel that many things have changed over the year 2007...

SCHOOL:
We got our A level results and went to various schools, while I got into NUS Business School, ended up struggling for the 1st sem coz I didn't organise my time well and didn't study hard enough, ending up with horrendous grades. It's going to be a tough 2008 ahead as I need to pull up my CAP by a lot! And at this point of time, I am discussing with Xuanie on our tutorial time slot for our GEM. People better not take the tutorial slot coz that's the only TIME slot I have! And that would mean i dont have any free weds...sads...Hopefully the no free wed will let me be more focused on my work and not let me waste my wed away! No more going out and wasting weds away!!

Looking back, school aint just about studying. I had loads of fun while studying and doing the projects especially for my MNO video project! Much as it was time consuming, I had fun and learnt lots while doing the project.

FRIENDSHIP:
Went for many camps like CampBlueBlood and got to know Akihito people! FOC 196 camp and got to know Dehuns people! KR FWOC and got to know Drackos people! YDP '07 and got to know YELLOW group people!

Well, I made many new friends. People from all walks of life, different schools, different countries and made new lifelong friends like Siao Er, Lixuan and Benedict, HuiFang, Yan Ling and Sara. And also keeping and enforcing friendships with KXFZ - Mel, Ziwei, Zhen, Mich, Weirdz - Zhen, Dianne, Az, Shaz, Sarah. Also, with the choir Seniors from MJ and NUS. It's been great knowing new people and going for caroling sessions with the NUSChoir people :)

It was also great getting to know brothers and sisters in Christ during the recent YDP '07 which an unfortunate event took place. But that brought our bond closer to one another, knowing and showing that we are all there for one another even though we are from Singapore or Malaysia or other countries.

SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING:
I should say I haven't been doing as much as my other brethren have. But I will try to go for Wed Bible classes from this year onwards! It's time to be immersed fully in the word of God! This YDP has shed much light to me on the importance of knowing the scriptures well and studying the Bible has to be as important as any other studies, which I have much neglected last year. I have made closer friendships and bond in church coz of YDP.

I rededicate my life to God and hope to be a better child of God :)

LOVE LIFE:
I didn't get into any serious relationships but with a few thoughts here and there. But guess I didn't have the courage to go and think further. We'll see how about it again this year. But, I am letting nature takes its course. I do pray for my friends as I see many break or get together. Things are complicated where matters of the heart are involved.

FAMILY:
Hmm...I haven't been really at home since school started coz have been in hall for most weekends. I do hope to go home more often next sem and really be a good girl. My bro is starting sec 4 already and he needs the most encouragement now. Hoping that he changes for the better! :)

The main aims for the year 2008 are as above. Of coz I am praying for the good health of everyone! And WORLD PEACE >.<

Hello :)

HOLIDAYS are here!! :) Officially free from exams on 6 Dec 732pm! After the horrendous FNA paper, Yiwen, Weewen, Yuhang and I went to a Taiwanese eatery at Fong Seng there for dinner! The ban mian was GOOD! ;) And the company too! Since we are all bizaders, we started talking about biz stuff and our modules as well as modules we were going to take! And we shared stories about what we learnt in the modules. I can't wait to take the module legal environment of biz. It sounds fun! But that's coz it's taught by an interesting lecturer who isn't teaching next sem! Aww...

And through this exam, I learnt that staying in hall is good but yet bad. Good in the way that there are people who take the same module as me. I studied late into the night and doing past year papers with Weewen, Pius and Benedict (for mno) and we could help each other along the way. However, I got kinda distracted some times and I really missed my family esp mummy and daddy. And Nick. And also the good food that mummy cooks! I'll think of how I can settle my exams next sem! we have lots of things to think of during this hols! And next sem would definately be better! I wil start it on the right note and will do my best to finish studying 2x BEFORE the actual exams! And I have to do past year papers WITH KNOWING THE ANSWERS!! I had many qns that appeared in the exams that were from past year papers but since I didn't know the ans, it was as good as not doing the past year papers...haiz..

This sem is screwed.

But next sem would be FANTASTIC :)

I moved out from hall already and am at home now :) But my stuff at home are still in a mess. And I accumulated so many things in hall during this past month! Which is bad...I now have some stuff in Amie's room, Yiwen's room, Lixuan's room and Siao Er's room! I will not have so many things in my room next SEM! :)

It's a week and 2 hours to my first paper in UNI!

First paper is PS3236 which I hope I am able to pass and S/U it!! I need to do that! Don't think I am going to at least get a B for it! If I do, the whole world has to bow to me! MUAHAHAH!!

Okie...Exam stress! Or rather...Exam boredom.

Everyone else started at least one paper already. But I am still here with 5. And starting on the 3rd, ending on the 6th, isn't a very good thing. 5 papers in 4 days... I would just go for the paper, come back sleep, next day go for another paper. Don't think there will be time to study anything more already. I also would need to get back my sleep at 12 at least, wake up at 7am to study mode. Oh well...I just hope I can settle down and study!

I have finished reading through Marketing notes. But I don't remember much about it! If only the exams were easier or at least like A levels...And that I can crap and smoke answers out...

I am already looking forward to so many things to do during the holidays! But the hols seem quite short to begin with...And there is a Bossini sale going on near Ricoh! So, i am going to go back to Ricoh for lunch with Wendy and then shop!! Aifung and zhen?? :)

It's been so long since I wrote a personal letter to you and I am doing it openly here on my blog!!

I accept your public apology and really heartened to know how much i mean to you!

As how affectionately I call you "zhen" last time and even now, I would do so even till the far future - when we get married, when we have kids, when we have grandchildren, when we grow old and die...That's how much I would forever remember the times we spent together! And that's how much I am looking forward to keeping our friendship!

It is truly fate that brought us together. You know the amount of trouble and pain that both of us went through to eventually best friends - the best of best at one point in time. Although I do not have a memory as good as yours, I will always remember the days that we stayed back in school to chit chat and study; going out on saturdays after class or project or shopping and then heading back to Macpherson. I always loved the talks that we had on our own, in the bus, reminising of the past, thinking of the future. There was just every single little bit that I could talk to you about. Even about my family matters! (Which I must update you about...)

Don't be too sad over the shawl! I know you didn't know about it and it wasn't done on purpose! My grandma wouldn't be angry and disown you or whatsoever just because of a shawl! We think of you everytime and would continue to do so. Why? Because you are a nice girl and thanks to you that I was able to study for O's and A's. Imagine if you weren't there for me? Do you think I would study? Do you think I would be a good girl? I may have been led astray! But because of you (and the others...but most of the time I was with you!), you helped me learn a lot of life's meaning and how to be street smart! I must say you are more down to earth and willing to take risks. This is one thing which I would hardly take the courage to do. But because of you, I learnt a lot. You are part of my family, and would always be! :)

And I would never forget the 1 to 2 hour long chats we would have. It's a pity that we hardly do talk now. I do agree that we are drifting far apart and I do find myself changing also. I am more english speaking now, and am losing my chinese slang which i would always talk to you in! it's so hard to communicate with anyone in uni with mandarin! It's like hardly used at all! Even so, you and i don't totally just use mandarin when we talk, we use english too. it's so different from the past..

We have both found new cliques and hangouts this year; We share problems with a different set of people; We have different priorities...It's all a phase of life and I guess we can't break away from the fact that we have been classmates for 6 years! We may not be in the same school now, and not communicating as often as we do, but I am sure that our friendship still holds! Not only with you, but with KXFZ and Weirdz as well! I may make new friends in school and hall now, but that doesn't mean I forget about you girls!

Time is really limited in Uni. In a twinkle of an eye, we are going to have our final exams already. Then holidays. Soon, it's back to the "A levels in 3 months" system. It's really hard to cope now in first sem as I am still trying to adjust and get a hang of how my life should proceed. And living away from home...

In many occasions, breaking down was the only way to find refuge and solace. And calling you was always on the list. But, I always do not...

I want you to know that you would be my best and closest and most loved friend, even before my husband! Coz you know me the most, and seen me grow from sec 1! We still have many more wonderful years ahead of us and I am sure we are able to cross over all crises, and be there for each other!

Hello!!

Yup..I was fighting some mental war that day...

On tues, I just felt like breaking down. There were just too many deadlines together. Yes...that's one thing I learnt so far in uni. Last min work does work for me but it's really very, very stressful.. And I shouldn't leave this to the last min. Really don't know what will crop up or what mood would I have.

Just as bad, I am living on a last minute schedule again... I have a term paper due on mon 12pm. But coz I have tutorial at 9pm, I HAVE to finish it by SUN! And it's going to be crap coz i don't know what I am suppose to write on. 10 pages and I am only at 2...Haiz...

Oh yes...TUES!

TUES was a very, very, very bad day... (song: YOU HAD A BAD DAY!!!)

I was rushing a term paper that was to be due on THURS 12 pm. Yes... Last min work again.

Seriously, I don't know where my time has been spent on. It's not hall coz I don't have much hall activities now. It's like accumulative work that I can't seem to finish. Oh well..but i finished my term paper and did hand in on thurs. (CRAP WORK)

And tues was like seriously bad coz my MNO proj group had problems editing the video. We have to do a video for our project and it has restrictions like handing in by Sat 2359hrs, below or 9mins etc..

We were in dire straits coz we wanted to use Adobe Premiere Pro but we have no idea how to operate it. We went to the multimedia lab but we couldn't catch what she taught us. And we were using an older version of Adobe Premiere Ver 6. So, it didn't have a lot of things that the Pro has. The multimedia girl didn't know how to use our version. Thus, we decided to go back and figure it out ourselves. Many groups have by now finished doing the project and we were quite pressurized.

We played around the whole afternoon with Adobe ver 6 but didn't get anything out. We even came up with the idea of outsourcing. I didn't agree but the whole group wanted. So my friend went to ask her friend to help for us. Her friend said ok...but didn't demand for payment. I was thinking that she wouldn't do it for us with such requirements and all...

During tutorial, I wasn't really paying attention. It was the tutorial for this video proj module. The tutor discussed with us on TOXIC EMOTIONS and I did feel quite stressed and sad at that point in time coz we didn't have our proj done and I still had my term paper!

Anyway, we met after class to do out more of the proj.

I went back hall and thought through what my dad told me over the phone...

"Your brother can make a video out of Windows Media Maker (WMM), why can't you?"

And so, I gave up on my term paper for that night and went to try to use WMM.

POOF!!

I managed to link the files together and I got a flowing video! Just that I was too tired to put in the whatever animations etc...

I went to sleep and got up the next morning suppose to do my term paper but in the end, I did the video instead. I put in some captions, animations etc..

Eshlene and Jackson were to go and learn how to use Adobe Premiere but I told them I managed to do the video on WMM. Thus, they came over to have a look. It was so USER FRIENDLY! And quite idiot proof. So, we decided to use WMM.

I got addicted to doing the proj since it could only be done on my HP laptop. And I was making changes to it like almost all the time!

Fri 1230pm - 1230am
Sat 11am - 1030pm

And yes!! We are finally done with the VIDEO!! Yippee! I am so proud of it! :)

If not for my group mates, I don't think I would have bothered about the project. Thanks to Eshlene, Jackson, Huifang, Cindy, Eyin and Mohsin for being my group mates!! I really had loads of fun doing this video! :)

And this reminds me of J1 PW! Thanks to Shaz, we were able to get the video done. At that time...I don't think technology was so advanced!! haha!!

Forgive me for my poor sentence structure and all...I am very tired. Finally, the proj has ended, just for a short presentation of this video to the class on tues! And i stil have my term paper to write...

Oh yes...I am in hall now. Apparantly...

I was supposed to go home like 1,2 pm...but coz of the project, I didn't go my grandparents place, and didn't go home...And I have to go church from hall on my own tmr/later. And I would be back in hall after lunch too! Haiz...sad life.. But for the sake of the proj and for my term paper...

And many things i really wish to look forward to. But circumstances may not allow me to do so.

At this point in time, I am down with sore throat and probably lots of phlegm that's inside which can't come out. I am feeling a little feverish but guess it's probably just psychological. It's the dunno how many time this past month. And it happens overnight! I was so miserable at worship just now coz I couldn't sing out!

But I am still going to school tmr. I can't miss MKT tutorial, PS lect, OM lect. But I would probably not be able to go choir. =...(

Pardon me for any grammatical errors. I had only 5 hours of sleep (330am-830am).

Yesterday was a rather well-spent day!!

I was suppose to meet Wendy and Angeline for lunch. But Wendy met with an accident. I suppose it's not serious coz she she's just on MC. Anyway, in the end I didn't meet them but went for lunch with Xuanie to Ikea. I bought files and a pillow! I had expected to spend more than $10. But apparantly, Ikea didn't have the things I was looking for. (Stationary drawers, nice bowl, nice rug...) Yup...so, I carried the 2 items in my hand and went back to hall like that. Xuanie and I had hotdog for lunch! Yumms!!

I rushed back in time for my project group meeting at 2pm!! And from 2-530pm, I was stuck in the company of 3 other guys doing my marketing project. I am the only girl in the group with 4 other guys. We managed to get started on the outline of the report. But I guess, it's going to take us a long time to complete the full report. We are kinda getting sian of doing this project already. And I have editing to do...back to PW days...

I went back to hall for dinner at 545pm. And spent dinner time crapping with seniors and Xuanie! The guys are really nuts...anyway, I had a quick dinner before I set off for CHOIR!!

Got to CFA (Centre for the Arts) just in time for choir! Many people weren't around coz of the term break and many went back to their hometowns. It was quite productive and we finished up 2 songs just on schedule. Well...not exactly on schedule for the concert but at least we finished what we wanted to do. Choir is no longer like sec sch and JC where we get breaks inbetween...We stand for 3 hours straight each practice and my legs and body hurts after each practice. I almost can't sit down! At least the songs we do are fun and it takes away the pain of standing!!

For the first time in my choir life in NUS, I went for supper with them! Harris had been pestering me to go for supper at Fong Seng with them but I always had to turn it down coz I always had something in hall! So, yesterday, I fulfilled the promise of going supper with him! (And I don't know why he scolded me...saying something about can go another time...well, I think it's coz I said I was just going and not eating. I had supper in hall...) Oh well...I had a fun time with the seniors, talking nonsense and hearing about ghost in Adyll's house (Tampines...Sarah!!). The PGP people walked me back coz it was on the way! Well, they could have actually taken another route but coz I was the only one walking back that way, they decided to go that way too! Hehe! I am looking forward to more suppers with them!

I went back and supposedly suppose to do my project research and all...but ended up in the lounge watching Siao Er, Xuanie, Rach Pang, Sher and Mark play bridge. I went there to ask Xuanie for her key to her room to take my laptop! But in the end...I was too tired to do anything and just lied on the couch watching them play bridge. I decided to do some work at 1am and stopped at 3am when we decided to sleep. Shagged out...oh well...

I am going off for project meeting and filming now! It's a different project! Management and Organisation. PW again...SHAZ! ESTHER! JEAN! SIMON! I miss you guys!!!!! We are the best project group!! :(

Oh well...would try to blog more often now. Need to brush up on my typing skills! Typing too slow le! Hehe!!

Hey people!!

I need your help!

I won a lucky draw (seriously lucky!) at a NUStyle Bazaar held last week! I put in the form only like 5 mins before the guy (who is a Bizad senior) called me! And I was still at the bazaar!! Oh well...It was a funny way of picking coz the box had only one "entrance and exit" which was the slit/slot where the papers go in. And I so happened to have been the last to put in the paper that day. I didn't expect it at all! And I actually didn't want to put it in coz I was lazy...I did in the end...

I told the guy I didn't want it and he must be thinking I was out of my mind coz it was one of the top 4 prizes which was a LAPTOP SKIN (worth $49.90)!! I was to come back the next day to collect and I had to go on stage!! The next day was a Wed which was my free day! But coz of that, I had to go out. Well, Xuanie said she would go with me, so I decided to go. And the thought that I could take a pic with my fav DJ Ding Zhi Yong, made me change my mind about not wanting the prize. Luckily, the guy didn't give away my prize!!

The next day, we went to Central Forum where the event was going on. I met Ziwei there!! WOOTS~ And had a chat with her before finding the guy. Well, they apparantly made a blunder and made me and another girl go up there to receive the "prize" but they had not given the DJ the prize card voucher to give us yet!! So pai seh lah! Went down stage to wait again.

During this time, we met Xuanie's baby bear, Mark, and senior Cheng Kang! And many other people. We stood around listening to 3 famous guys in the mandarin pop industry of which I have forgotten their names. They sang songs from the show 881!! And it was really fun! Just that the guy keeps complaining that NUS is quite unfriendly and quiet. Oh well..people were scurring to classes and shopping around for things. And they aren't so famous for non-mandarin pop people to know! Enough about them..

Siao Er was one lucky girl! Because of me, she won a bottle of perfume from some well known company. Is it Hugo Boss?? I can't remember. Anyway, she won coz the original prize winner didn't come. And seeing that Siao Er is my friend, and the guy really needed someone to take the prize, he called her to take the prize. Erm...she got quite unlucky when she went to take the prize from the DJ. He started asking her questions!! And she kept pushing the mic away! She is one person who has not spoken mandarin in ages and was quite rusty. She explained her action for pushing the mic away, "I couldn't hear what he said! And I didn't want to 'huh!' into the mic!! So I pushed away to ask him what he said. Then he spoke in mandarin asking me my faculty! you think I understand?!" Oh well...that was quite true!! The sound system wasn't very good. Couldn't really hear what he said. To think of it...how to say "Business Faculty, Science Faculty, Arts Faculty..." in mandarin??

I am down with a very bad throat. Can't talk. Or rather don't feel like talking. Can't swallow saliva but can eat. (Ironically). Don't think can sing too!! BOO HOO!! And don't think can scream too. The worse thing...tutorial participation will be painful since I can't really talk. darns...regret eating that pack of van houten chocs. must be too heaty...

and there is a termite war going on beside me just as i type. Yes...I am fighting against termites that happily had a great feast on my story books which include one oldie (Some crime book) which is totally unsalvagable, ANGELS AND DEMONS!! (They ate up the Angels and Demons!!) which i don't think i want to salvage also. And one shopaholic book. And my chinese dictionary which followed me through sec sch and jc! The rest on the glass shelf is alright! And some of my comic books on the table are also being attacked! It's really horrible!! Just one week and they appear! I had a hard time trying to clear some stuff. And now, I just hope they will die and I can get my table space back again! I am glad to say that Azzimah's book is still alive!! heng ah... if not I wouldn't know how and where to get the book for az again!

Ok...i gtg, it's going to be a long and horrible week for me. Lots of tutorials and lessons. and PROJECTS!!

And I can't offer it as much as the others can. But it only applies to girls coz Joel got in. And he put KRChoir 3rd placing while I put mine 2nd. Why? Coz they can't find enough guys. No big deal though. Maybe it's a force for me to join other stuff and leave the choir scene for a while. Now, it's not that I don't want to sing in a choir anymore. They don't want me. Well, I have NUSChoir already so that's all I need! And my debut performance with NUSChoir is tmr evening! :) So exciting!

So, it's ok KRChoir! I will find my other means of staying on in hall!! >.<

Oh yah! Wei wei came over for lunch just now! Well...it was just a simple cup of noodles...hehe! I don't have much to offer! To those who want to come over for lunch, that's the max you can expect! :)

Had a lecture just now but slept in it again...I don't know when will I ever stop sleeping in lectures...

Going to church later for youth gospel meeting! Jia you to Leon, Vijay, Yong Yaw and Ben as they present a lesson each! :) So looking forward to hearing from you guys!

So, I will begin to tread the dream this evening!

Let me just blog about the choir audition that took place on Mon...

I was at home on Sun night and was contemplating which day to go for the auditions. And knowing me, I would procrastinate till quite late and keep putting it off just like what I did to CAC Voices audition. I procrastinated till I didn't feel like going. But for NUS Choir, NO WAY could I procrastinate. Just that I wanted to find a nice day to go down for it...

I thought through and with help from people like Joel, Irene and Harris. I wanted to go down with Joel so that got company on Wed. But Tues we will have/had the IBG Opening and track events and I would be cheering really loud for my fellow Eguanas! And there was initiation for freshies. So, Tues would be out of question. And because of all that screaming, shouting, yelling, cheering etc...My throat won't be in good condition. So, that left me with Mon! And Harris said that there won't be too many people on the first day. Might as well come and get over with it. So ya...I went on Mon!

However, I didn't go alone!!

I was so glad that I had Irene (who waited since 230pm when her lesson ended) to go with me after my lecture at 6pm!
I met her at Central Library and we headed for CFA. We got there about 645pm and I took a form with my queue number - 32. I thought it would be the first day so there won't be too many people but looked like I was wrong. Actually I was kinda tired and hungry...And I wasn't feeling well since I had flu for the previous 2 days and my eyes were red and puffy that morning.

But I got all energetic when I got to CFA!! Paulas was the first there to meet me! And he stared really hard trying to remember where he had seen me. We didn't officially introduce ourselves when we met before at MJ so he had no memory of me in his "contact list".

I sat down and filled in the form with Irene's help! The seniors were really nice! They went all around trying to calm people down, chit chat and let them know what NUS Choir is all about! Once the seniors heard I am staying in KR, they got Joseph, a final year stats senior to come to talk to me! He used to stay in KR for 2 years but since moved to residences. He told me that it's quite alright managing NUS Choir and hall stuff since he did that. And I would most likely be able to get the points to stay on in hall. So there's nothing much to worry. But yah...I am not as intelligent as him lah...so the studying part is another question.

And i spoke to Paulas and found out he is my Faculty Senior too!

Paulas: Aiyo!! Sorry lah! Businessman always like that. Very busy de. Sorry ah! If you keep seeing me running all over the place!
Me: OH!! You are in Business ah?
Paulas: Why? I don't look like one ah? Which faculty are you from?
Me: SAME LAH!! Business also!

And both of us start hi-five-ing, going "what say you say i say" and became really high! Network ah...

But he aint staying long coz he is going on SEP soon!!! And he really reminds me of Kok Yong! Their manarisms and speech are so alike!! If you close your eyes and just hear him speak, you would think it's Kok Yong instead!

When it was my turn, I went to key in my particulars first and waited for my interview. By this time, I was already losing my voice after all that chatting and screaming "what say you say" with Paulas. And I probably couldn't remember my lyrics...

I was interviewed by Aaron and basically it was just chit chat, getting to know more about choir and if I could commit to the practices they were going to have. Well, I felt really bad I couldn't commit yet coz I really don't know what's going on in hall. But he was understanding and said it was alright and that I should try to commit to the one which I think it's more of a priority. I will just try =)

After the interview, I went downstairs for the audition. I was behind this guy who could sing really HIGH and loud! And even higher than me!!! I started getting a bit worried but heck lah! I should just do what I could...My throat was hurting and getting tensed. I did my small prayer and went in.

Stupidly, I showed my super bimbotic and embarrassing side of me when I entered the dance room...

Me: Hi everyone! *wave*
Adyll: OH! Hi Rachel!!
Me: Hi! (very sweetly)
Harris: Eh! Where is the score ah? You didn't bring down ah?
Me: OH YAH!! It's upstairs!! How? You want it now?! OH no! Sorry ah!!
Harris: See lah you! Ask you to bring when you come for the audition and you didn't!
Me: SORRY!! (I was very agitated and apologetic and the seniors were there laughing at me!!!!)

Btw, the score referred to was just to lend to Harris/NUS Choir. It's not needed for the audition.

But I was quite relaxed coz the seniors were smiling and I just felt right/good! It was that very nice feeling! They asked me to sing the song first. I had wanted to request to do the scales first but decided going against them.

So I started... With One Look from Sunset Boulevard.

Woah! The previous guy wasn't exactly that loud. It was the room! The acoustic was fantastic! And there was a mirror behind the seniors so I was actually looking at myself when I sang which made me concious of my facial expression. The seniors smiled at the points I expected them to and that was great! And they nodded and all! It was just fantastic! Btw, there were about 7 seniors there!

I sang 2 verses and they thought I was going to stop I think, but I carried on for another verse. Then I asked if I was to stop. Like duh...I had wanted to sing the whole song. But I thought I wouldn't be able to remember some of the words. And the part where I stopped wasn't at a very nice place. Aiya..I stopped anyway. And I was glad they were at least smiling :)

Then we went on to scales. I thought my high notes weren't nice. Like cannot make it. Must have been the chatting and all...
But it's alright! I am in NUS Choir now and still a Soprano! So nothing else matters :)

I am meeting Harris later first before going to CFA coz I still have no idea how to get there. Well, that is if he doesn't pang seh me again...

So excited =))))

We had IBG Volleyball yesterday with us against C block. Our guys did well and can go to the finals!!
But our girls put up a great fight and lost only by a few points. It's alright girls! You all did well and I am very proud of you all! :) I couldn't have plucked up the courage to enter the playing ground and so, I applaud their sportsmanship!

I am not able to be at the handball match tonight since there is choir...

But I would nonetheless be rooting for them. I seriously have no ball sense so doubt I would even be able to play! Go Handballers!

And my throat hurts again coz of all that screaming and cheering from yesterday! But it's all worth it! :)

I should be playing frisbee on Sat...Or think that I can play. It just depends if they want to sub me in...And I hope I can play floorball too on Sun! But that means this weekend I can't really be back with my family...Haiz...

I want to try netball too! But I havent been to their training yet... They should just have CHEERLEADERS! And I am proud to say I would gladly be part of them! :)

Inter-Block Games 07/08

Yes! The IBG has officially started yesterday with E block Eguanas kicking it off and sweeping away 2 titles - Women's and Men's Track Championships!

We got 1st for 4/5 events: 4x100 Men, 4x400 Women, 4x400 Men and Medley - 2x100, 1x200, 2x400, 2x800 men and women mix. We got 2nd for the 4x100 Women. But all in all, IT WAS GREAT!! We kept this championship for the 9th year! YES!!

Tonight's event is VOLLEYBALL! I hope I could play but it's going to be very stressful. And it's another game we are aiming to get into finals (and of course bringing back the championship title)!

Last night after the track events, we had the initiation for the freshies to become full-fledged Eguanas! Well, it was super gross, disgusting, horrible (whatever other words used to describe along that line)... But fun! More about that another time. (Darn, I am backlogging again!!)

We went to wash up until 1am and went to PLAY VOLLEYBALL after washing up! We were smelling really nice, dressed all ready to go to sleep, hair still wet...But yah, we went down to the MPSH and sweat it out! Volleyball is fun!! And we played till 330am! We did some drills with Gerald and Calvin coaching us. About 3+am, Gerald switched off some lights and said, "5 more mins ah!!" But he came over to some of us who were just playing passes and asked us to do 20 touches then go to sleep. 20 touches is really tough to get! We played for half an hour and managed to barely scrap pass 20 touches with 21 touches!! It was really intense and exhilarating!! Woah...from 5 mins to 30mins...

I went back, washed up, chit chat in Xuanie's room with Er-ie and went to sleep at 430am!! Darns..my whole biological clock is turning upside down...

Alrights... got to go get ready for volleyball!! May E Block win!! Woots!!

Irene (senior from MJ) is going to meet me and accompany me to CFA (Centre for the Arts) tmr for my NUS Choir audition!

I am so glad that she is able to bring me. At least I won't get lost and I won't be so nervous since I would have someone to be there with me. And I am so hoping that Harris is in the room tmr with the other 4 or more people. At least singing to people I know would be better. I just hope that I won't start laughing. I don't know why...Each time I sing and Harris is around, I will start laughing!

Alright...I am having a little bit more confidence now!

I am going to memorise the lyrics now!! :)

I had quite a fulfilling and fun day!

The morning started with being filled with the Lord's word! Also, Louise and Rachel (sisters) came!! It's been a few years since I last saw them! And I am so glad they are back to JCOC! :) Had a fun time catching up with them!

And great news!!

I FOUND SOMEONE TO GO PS3236 lecture with me!!!!

I had wanted to approach Ruth to ask her how to go to AS6 for my lecutre tmr! But before I could go up to her to ask her, she came to me and asked if I'm taking that module too! I guess she saw my name in the roster like I thought I saw her's too! She was very surprised I am taking that module because she's a fourth year Political Science student whilst I am a first year student!! So, I guess I am really going to have to S/U the module...

At least I have someone for lecture and tutorial (hopefully) :) I can't believe I am going to be Uni classmates with her!!

After lunch, we went to Parkway Parade coz bro wanted to make his specs. Mum and I went on shopping after that. We are a bad match at going shopping together coz we spend lots!! Blue Max opened beside the optics and Mum couldn't resist going in. She bought her korean show and I bought Zong Ji Yi Ban (KO One) - the one where Shaz went all crazy over coz of her golden hair monkey. So far, it's been nice (on ep 3 alr). Funny but it's the lame kinda funny and not the truly can laugh kinda funny... >.<

So happy! Went shopping!!! Haha! But it's going to be back to "away from the world" tmr. Seriously, I didn't even take public transport for the whole of last week besides the internal shuttle bus at NUS. And it's going to be like that every weekday. Haha!

hey girls!

alright..i am typing this with fresh pink nail polish on my fingers and dark purple nail polish on my toes! So it's kinda difficult to type.

OK! I am updating!

I am into my 3rd official day at NUS Business School. But...I have had only 2 days of lectures so far! Tutorials haven't started as we will start balloting on Fri. However, I am already preallocated my core modules so I just have to ballot for my elective module tutorial. Thus, tutorials will only start in wk 3. The tutorial work, projects, term papers etc have all been coming in already though! I will post my timetable up soon when I get my elective module tutorial time. Btw, I am doing some stupid, horrible, and don't-think-i-can-pass elective module!! Ethnicity and Religion in Asian Politics. Past years papers showed that I have to do at least 3 essays during the closed book final year exam in 2 hours. So, congrats to me for bidding such an out of the Rachel world module - Political Science! you all know how much I hate politics!!!!

Anyway, I had a free day today! So, I headed down to Orchard with my friends from 11am to 6pm! Not a place I like to go too. And we ended up walking back to the same places all the time coz we didn't know where to go. What was I doing there??Just like Shaz, I am having this formal dinner tmr night. I know I didn't blog about this yet. And it was a horrible process. But rather fun actually...just that it's tiring.

Ok...This DATING GAME goes like this. A junior is suppose to date a senior of the opposite gender. ie. If you are a girl freshie, you have to date a senior. But the rules are that you cannot date someone from your same block. KR is divided into 5 blocks - A, B, C, D, E. So, if you happen to be from E block, you cannot date an E block senior. You can date a senior from A, B, C or D. You can choose to not date anyone and be matchmade. But guess, it's not something which you want coz you don't know who that senior you are going to have your dinner with. And if you can't click with that senior, it's not going to be a nice dinner.

I actually got rejected by this senior. Details another time. But I have since found another senior. Actually, I wanted to give up and probably not even go for the formal dinner. however, I managed to date this senior whom I am quite close to...Quite a poor chap coz he's a substitute. But I hope he doesn't think that way. I had wanted to date him at first but coz i was fickle minded and went ahead to date someone else. i got rejected coz another prettier girl was going after him also. And i didn't do as much as that girl. i'll tell you what i did another time. So, after a big round, i was back with this senior. And he is a nice guy. He is from my faculty and he sold me his textbook. ok...i am feeling bad for him. but if he doesn't be my date, he would be matchmade and i think its better to be with me coz i know we would have lots to talk about and crap since we are quite close already. don't hope that he is a tall, dark and handsome guy coz he is totally opposite. and i am kinda sorry for him coz i am going to wear heels and he is already shorter than me when i don't wear heels! I told him that, and the seniors also said that there would be full body photo taking. He was nice and said he didn't mind. I know he was being nice. Oh well...I bought him a mug as a gift exchange. But guess I'll see how i could do it up with an additional card or something tmr.

Btw, after the dinner (which is in the dining hall where we have our meals everyday!!!), we are going down to Great World City in a chartered bus to watch Licence to Wed. A romance comedy...So appropriate for a dating game...We have seen many people do funny things for their dates like perform on stage, decorate the lifts, corridors, rooms, doors, give funny but creative things to the date etc...But it's all in the name of fun! :)

I will update another time, gonna get up at 530am to run and train (as a block) for inter block games which starts next wk. So for the next 3 wks, I will be waking up at 530am, running to the sports and recre centre, play a different game (whichever the block comm decides to play. today was handball.) each day till 8am and then head back to KR for breakfast. I am going to be so shagged!! But it's a fun way to bond with the fellow block people and to learn new sports!! I hope to lose weight too!! hehe!

Ok! WE will try to meet up soon ya! I met Aifung, Yvonne, and Wei2 on Tues for lunch! :)

16 August!!

It was a fun-filled day of sports and glamour! Ok...They don't come together, but that's basically the most happening things today!

545am: Sheryl (senior) bangs on the door many, many, many times till I finally woke up to say, "YAH! YAH!! WAKE UP ALREADY!" And my handphone alarm just kept sounding.

6am: All ready to go! Where?! JOG!! Met the rest at the back gate and started the morning jog to SRC. Today's jog was so much better than yesterday's! As in, I was able to jog all the way to SRC with minimal stopping. Couldn't have done it without seniors' encouragement! Thanks to Bao Lai for chatting with me and encouraging me from the Biz carpark to Central Library and to Calvin who was with me from Central Library all the way to SRC. I felt bad coz they were talking to me but my answers were short coz I was SLEEPY and I didn't want to break the momentum and breath intake. :))

7+am: Today we learnt how to play volleyball. All that we learnt in JC during our volleyball elective lessons were crammed all into 1 hour! Gerald and Sheryl took us for the lesson and spent half their time throwing the balls. Others were Valarie, Lishi and Ying Hong!

8am: Within 1 hour, we learnt how to play and progressed from nuts to can play! We played 1 proper game till 25 points. Then another any how play. But, I managed to score 4 points in a row! I managed to hit the ball across the court but the opponents couldn't return it. So, I had to serve 4 times in a row! And my right forearm has a large BLUEBLACK now! I heard that they may select me for the volleyball team. BUT I really cannot play! It was probably all by luck! I would be happy if I could play though! I seriously have no ball sense.

9am: Took bus back to KR but ran in the rain from the bus stop to KR. We were back at dining hall for breakfast.

10am: Dad took me to Lavander to collect my passport.

1030am: I got no. 2425. 136 people in front of me! Fell asleep while waiting.

1145am: Got my NEW BIOMETRIC PASSPORT!!!

12pm: Went with Dad to Beach Rd to eat lunch :)

1pm: Back at hall.

2pm: Marketing lecture. Fell asleep in lecture again! Sian...I keep falling asleep in lect. AZZIMAH! SARAH! DIANNE!! WAKE ME UP!! Well, thankfully there was Chang Xi's sweets to keep me awake!
4pm: Went to the Drink stall to see if there was my MANGO SAGO!!! For the dunno-how-many-times, I didn't get to drink it. Anyway, Chang Xi and I settled for desserts coz we were kinda hungry and couldn't eat dinner yet...

5pm: Back in hall, changed and went to Xuanie's room to make up! Siao Er, Xuanie and I spent 1 hour in just trying to make up and look good. Of course, there was the camera whoring!

615pm: I was STILL in Xuanie's room!! And what time was the guy suppose to be at the girl's room to pick her up?! 615PM!

No worries...Just as I got to my room, Ezekiel msged me to tell me he was going to be a little late. Wheeww!! I wasn't angry that he was going to be late. In fact, I was happy he was! My room was in a mess and I still needed to touch up a little bit, wear my shoes etc...So, I was glad he came later. Well, he probably knew girls would really need a longer time. At least he had the courtesy of msging me he would be late. Siao Er's date didn't tell her he was going to be late! And he was half an hour late. (I almost wanted to date him actually!)

630pm: Ezekiel came! He gave me the exchange gift (Chocs) and I gave him a mug. (But he left his stuff there coz we didn't want to carry it around.) I showed him a note which the Fwocers gave, "Your date for formal dinner would be Tat Hsien C___. He will pick you up at 615pm." And Ezekiel got kinda worked up like, "How can? I told Xiu Ling already! Then the guy how? Cannot double date!"

Yah..But I think they got the guy a replacement coz I told Calvin about it in the morning and since the guy didn't appear, so I guess he got someone else. The Fwocers would put that note on people's door if you don't have a date. Well, apparantly many who had a date was given that note and some of those who didn't have a date didn't get a note. A bit screwed on that. But guess it worked out fine! The Fwocers do have a tough job!

After 630pm: Met Joanna and Shawn (he was the other guy I was thinking of dating. OK...you people must be thinking I am kinda weird here...I'll explain what happened later.) Joanna and I are good friends, and so are Shawn and Ezekiel. So, the four of us headed for the dining hall and realised we were suppose to meet at the lobby instead. The guys showed lots of their gentleman side and helped the girls along the way.

We got to the lobby and met many people and their dates. PHOTOS again!!

And I saw the guy who rejected me. BOY! Was I glad he did! He wore jeans, a tee shirt and a coat with a loose tie. Totally not the kind I wanna date! Cool and fashionable...But not really dressed for the occasion especially when I was quite formally dressed. His date was very pretty and her dress was nice. I can't remember what it was though. But yah..They didn't look matching. At least my date wore black pants and a shirt. Typical businessman :) Which was kinda in coordination with me, right? Formal but without tie. That's alright :) I don't know what he gave his date. But I was glad that at least Ezekiel gave me a box of chocs and WRAPPED! Some guys gave flowers and presents but didn't wrap them. I didn't need the flowers (coz I wouldn't know how to take care of them and I can't stand the throwing away of them) but at least a WRAPPED present to show he did put in some efforts in getting the gift :)

The place was very nicely decorated with many stars and a lighted moon at the entrance to the dining hall. The ambience was great! It hardly looked like our usual dining hall!

The company was great too! I was glad I didn't date the guy who rejected me coz I would be sitting at his block table and I don't know anyone! At least at Ezekiel's block table, I know everyone coz his block was my attached OG block during FWOC. And there was Joanna and Shawn too! Basically, the E block girls dated D block guys and we sat at the same table. Company were Joanna + Shawn, Ivy + Wilson, Hui Ru + Yan He, Jia wei and Cindy were from D block but they didn't have any dates. We crapped a lot and ate a lot!! We had speeches by the JCRC pres, Rag and Flag head, Master Kuldip, and prize givings. The sound system wasn't very good but at least we heard a bit here and there. Sadly, the dinner was a quick one as we had to set off for the movie.

830pm: Dinner lasted about 1 hour and then we set off for more PHOTOS and got ready to go for the movie. Ezekiel didn't go for the movie coz he needed to study and do some readings for the next day's 8am lecture! Anyway, we didn't go with our dates in the end to the movies. Instead, we went with the block.

930pm: We got to Marina and watched License to Wed. Oh well...I can't really comment much because I fell asleep about halfway through the movie. The seats were really comfortable! And I had mum's nice shawl with me that kept me cosy through the movie! Moreover, I was very tired...It was quite funny at the beginning and I like the little boy who is training to become a pastor. And some parts were funny! I don't really remember what happened...Btw, it's totally not a reflection of how a religious head should behave. It's a movie nonetheless...

1130pm: We got back to KR. TOOK MORE PHOTOS!! And this time was the guys who initiated it. They said we have to take lots of pics when we get back. By this time, our makeup had already faded off. We took lots of pics at the lobby and then went down to the dining hall to take as well with all the decorations. The guys decided to go back to their rooms, while the girls continued camera whoring. Then we (the girls) went back to our block. While waiting for the lift, we called, "JIE MEIS!" And the guys all quickly opened their half-opened doors and told us to wait! They went to change back into their formal shirts and asked to take more pics! Well, times have changed, men are taking on women's roles including being a camera whore!!

12am: Well, the seniors did ask us if we wanted to go for supper. But dinner was very filling! Guys being guys felt it wasn't enough. Siao Er, Xuanie and I didn't want to go supper. Instead, we went to play badminton!

1235am: We changed into our sports attire, went to D block Wilson's room to get badminton rackets and shuttlecocks and headed for the MPSH. D block girls were training for IBG Handball and there were 2 other SEP angmoh students. We shared the court with them. Soon, one of the guys requested to play together. And after a while, he asked again if we wanted to carry on playing doubles or break to singles. Well, he wanted to only play with Xuanie. Siao Er and I aren't very good badmnton players but Xuanie is a school player. He probably couldn't stand playing with novices.

2am: We stopped playing badminton and headed back for our rooms. Nope...Hall life doesn't stop at 2am!!

Siao Er and I went to get our bathing stuff and went up to Xuanie's room! We had to cool down so we decided to go to her room for some drinks and food (cookies that her date baked for her! So nice right?!). We had a chat on our dates and how the night went! And some other sec sch stuff!

(btw, I found out on Wed that actually Siao Er and Sara knows AZZIMAH!!! And Sara is supposed to be quite close to Azz?)

3am: We went to bathe...

330am: I am going to sleep! Good night everyone! :)

I had a difficult time waking up today. I was very tired from all that moving and fun at Rag. And my body was aching since those muscles hadn't been used for a long time.

Anyway, I had fun at bible class and worship today. We discussed quite a bit of stuff! Andy, Willy and Shawn joined us too! :) And I got to introduce myself and talk to Willy and Andy even though they have been in Singapore for quite a while already. Met them a few weeks back but there wasn't any proper introduction done. They are Malaysians who went over to US for the last 4 years and now they are in Singapore coz their father is teaching at the Four Seas Bibe College at my church building. Andy will be going back to the States on Wed and Willy will be studying in Singapore. Both brothers are younger than me but they are so matured! And the way they speak and present themselves are really great! I guess that's the advantage having been overseas in US for a few years! Soon they or at least Willy would become "Singaporean".

Andy had the privilege of preaching yesterday and I was really WOWed by him! He just took his Bible and starting preaching without any notes in hand. And each time he quoted a verse he didn't refer to his bible and it was all correct! If only I had the determination and memory like him to remember the verses! He is such an encouragement to me!!

I slept the afternoon away. So sinful..But I really needed the sleep.
545pm, Dad sent me back to KR. I had dinner and then Star to Burst rehearsal started at 730pm! The tech run and all went well and I am glad that at least we are moving together as a choir. Thanks people for the effort!
Went supper with Daniel, Siao Er and Li Xuan. Ok..I think I have blogged about this before. I shall not do back log blogging anymore.

There's another KR Quiet practice tonight and tmr is the day! Go KR Quiet! Sshhh...

I woke up at 930am and spent the whole morning trying to bid for my modules. I wanted some IT Applications module but people outbidded me like really fast! And I only have 350points. So I changed to some Maths Calculus module and I realised it's too hard! I have already forgotten all the maths stuff in JC! After much trial and error searching for a module, I finally set my eyes on PS3236 Ethnicity and Religion in Asian Politics. I think it's a cheem module since it's POLITICAL SCIENCE and my Engrish not very powderful...But I will just go ahead and try it.

I went for lunch with Shuxian, Siao Er and Li xuan to Science canteen! I had my favourite claypot rice! We met lots of people there especially those from KR-Sci. And I also met Cassandra and Harris!! Stupid Harris refused to say hi to me...

So far, that's the first day of school! I am going to get ready for my lecture which is at 4pm - Operations Management. Well, I have no notes with me. Hopefully it would be an interesting lecture with an interesting lecturer! :)

I am watching Channel 8 show (The X-files aka Fa Yi X Dang An) on computer now! I am so thankful for NUS that we have this network TV thing! With this, I will never miss my TV shows! Just that as I have this online TV, I don't have the time to watch it!! Ok...So to answer Dawn and CLC's qns in the tag like ages ago, NUS has this website that I can go to and open a window to watch whatever that is on TV now. I think it's only available in NUS. A large window like on Youtube will open and tada! TV! =)

I just came back from FONG SENG Prata with my jie meis. Well, tonight only Clown (Daniel whose jiemei name is Danielina), Li Xuan (Xuanie), Siao Er (Erie) and myself went prata. We met Han Feng (Feng-I) on the way. Poor guy sprained his ankle while playing floorball and he still managed to drive back! The rest of the jie meis PS...but it's ok! We had fun nonetheless!

Let me say something about Flag Day! KR broke the record that we set last year ($85k) by raising $100k! And got some award for that! My group - Freshies Joanna, myself, Jia MInh (his jie mei name is Jasmine), Sun Yao, Hui Ru, Seniors Esther, Grace and Albert (the block head) headed down to Dhoby Gauht Plaza Sing to start our flag day collections. KR got up at 5am and met at 530am for breakfast. We set off about 6am in chartered buses to City Hall. Other blocks went to other places. Basically, NUS was all over Singapore. We were like some pink disease floating around. And everyone will make a long detour just to avoid us.

We ate breakfast at Macs from 730am till about 8+am. Then we set off to collect money! This is one of the worse flag day I ever did. From 9am till 5pm, I barely collected 2 full tins. And although the tin was quite heavy, it was almost all only coins. There were even 1-cent, 5-cent and malaysian sens. And I was at office areas. People didn't even stop to donate!! And since we were at the office areas, people that we met in the afternoon probably already donated in the morning. And since there were so many people in pink NUSSU tee around from different faculties, there was hardly anyone giving to me. We worked through lunch to catch the lunch crowd and went for lunch only at 2pm. After some bonding during lunch, we started again about 3+ and did all the way till 5pm. After which we headed to Suntec to meet the rest of the E blockers and went back to hall at 8pm. It was a tiring day but I was glad I did something for the needy people! :)

And I am glad I had a part to play in raising the $100k! :)
To CLC: yah...there was only people in PINK! It's the NUSSU Rag and Flag tee for this year. PINK! HOT PINK! haha!

Yesterday was Rag Day! It was super tiring but at least we had fun! We had a practice for rag helpers on Wed night. They taught us how to move the platforms and where to move. Ironically, it was mostly girls helping with the heavy lifting of the platforms and all! WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THE GUYS!! Apparantly, we have slacker guys and especially my jie meis! They said since we were all there helping, we needed people to cheer and support! And they have loud voices so they stood by at the grandstand to shout and ABSORB the sun! HOW RIDICULOUS! Yah..that's the guys for you...

I was glad that the float procession and all went on well! There was some cockup before the show and I was feeling really sad for the raggers when they said that the canvas may not be used. You know the amount of time put in to paint that canvas! And everyday we would see this ragger Poh Liang painting, shading, making gradients and all on the canvas and platforms and suddenly NUSSU says we can't use it!!!! YOU KNOW HOW SAD IT IS!!?! He was very strong and stood by whatever decisions made. But I was glad that everything went well! :)

KR didn't win but at least we got the least cost production award. But seriously, KR put in a lot of effort and we were bonded as one coz of Rag! Thanks Raggers for the effort :)

Oh yah..lunch yesterday was SUPER NICE! It was Lee & Wee Brothers Nasi Lemak! And nice drinks. And Master Kuldip treated us all to Cornetto Ice cream! :) I think I am growing fat here...

I have lotsa photos taken with my friends' camera. But they are taking ages to send it over to me! A lot of jiemei photos! haha! And it was the guys themselves that requested for it! We are family!! :)

I went back to my grandparents place for dinner coz it's my grandaunt's bday! And it had been a long time like a few weeks since I last saw them. It was a fun gathering with my granduncles, grandaunts, grandparents and parents. All the other kids left so I was the only kid in that generation and we just had lots to talk about. Was telling them about hostel life so far. It's really fun talking to adults! But I miss my little cousins too...I wonder how they are doing in their studies now. Especially since I haven't been there for a long time to tuition them. I dropped tuition with them long time ago though. But really hope I could push them to consistently do their work...Oh well...No one can study for them.

I made new jie meis here! And we have got a very big jie mei group within the freshies already! And last night Feng-i Jie drove us out to Holland Cold Storage to buy snacks and all! Ok...Feng-i jie is actually a guy called Han Feng. But we took all the guys as jie mei coz their room is so much neater than ours! And they do more girl stuff than us! Well, I guess they are more independent that make us girls look really bad coz we don't know how to do as much as they do. Well, more about them later!

I just saw the advertisement for the next episode of Be Strong Geum Soon! It's been a long time about 1 over week since I last watched TV at this time! Well, the ad showed that jin shun and the guy were going to break up!! THAT'S SUPER SAD!! I mean...after all that hardship they went through, and they decide to break up? It's really sad...But circumstances are such and decisions need to be made.

Rag day tmr!! And there's lots to be done! The time is going to be up soon and I know it's very stressful for the raggers. We had a preview just now and it was great! I just hope KR keeps their standard up and that everything would be good tmr! WE SHALL BRING BACK THE TITLE AGAIN! :)

The float is really nicely done and every single prop used were made from Kent Ridgeans! We all had a hand if not a finger at least in the making of the float! KR GO! GO! GO!

Ok...there's a block meeting later for Rag and IBG. And then I gotta sleep coz we are waking up at 4am tmr! My duty starts at 430am and all the way to 8pm. So long day for me!

I got outbidded for my SS Course and today I went to try bidding for gem. GEK 1047 Organisational Power & Culture. I dumped all my 350points into this and I really hope I get it. I don't know how to bid btw! And I so hate this cors and bidding thing!! Maybe its coz I don't know how to use it yet...

Oh well..I hope I get my Gem module.

Happy Birthday Singapore! :)

Alright...This year's national day doesn't seem anywhere near celebration for me. The national day celebrations in school would bring the birthday spirit in. And of course looking forward to the holiday. I haven't seen a single fireworks display even though there has been previews and all coz they moved to Marina Bay and I can't see it from my grandparents place anymore. And this is the first time I am not celebrating and watching the national day parade with my grandparents coz mum is sick and bro is studying for his tests and I am too tired to go anywhere. I even have to be back to KR by 10pm for a meeting on Rag and IBG. It was suppose to be at 930pm but I guess they realised it was impossible for us all to be back by then.

I haven't had much time to be online. And there's seriously lots I want to blog about! Like orientation aka Freshmen Orientation Week Camp (FWOC), KR Quiet practice, so many other activities, hall life and seniors! It has been a great week and I think the following weeks I have in KR would be great too! I hope so...

I am missing my friends! KXFZ, Weirdz...I was glad I met Char, Aifung and Ziwei at FIC on Mon! When term starts, I wanna meet up with them again at The Deck at FASS! It has many stalls and I think the food would be good! Wei2, I wanna meet you too! :)

ok...the parade is on! Going to watch it! and then going back to KR later...It's going to be a long night again...

College Day today!

It went well and very smoothly! I must commend the teachers for making the event go so well! The whole programme ended before schedule (530pm). However, by 330pm, we were all done! And even had to wait for the reception to be prepared. We watched the farewell assembly video so many times coz they were trying to hold us back.

What a wonderful day it was yesterday!

I woke up early and got ready for a whole load of fun and outing! The first thing that kicked off my day with a good start was a smooth and safe drive to MJ with my dad! I managed to park one shot reverse in! Woots~ And it was my first attempt at parking after CI taught me last thurs.

I collected my cert!! But that was after much fuss that a lady was giving in the office coz she didn't know her son's class and the clerk couldn't find the file. And the lady was pissed that I got mine first! But mine was easy to find! So shouldn't I be given first and let me go off first instead of making me wait and getting pissed along as well? 15 mins later, I got my certs!

And Dad asked if I was going home! It was only 10am. Way too early to be on my way to meet KXFZs. So, Dad let me drive home!! And I had to readjust everything again coz while he was waiting for me, he adjusted everything back to his preference. It was great practice and going on expressway was SO COOL!!!

Met KXFZs for lunch and I was the earliest!! Getting to Clarke Quay Central Mall on time (1145am)! Central Mall has lots of Jap stuff! A shop selling all Jap snacks, Jap restaurants, Jap accessories! It's quiet and nice to just walk around, and be away from the rush of life. But seriously not a place for me to shop coz there are so many things that I took a liking to and I could have bought them on impulse if not for the price.

We settled for Pasta De Waraku - Japanese Casual Pasta & Cafe Restaurant.


I loved what I ordered - Prawn, Chicken & Macaroni in wafu cream sauce top with shredded cheese!


We all had a bowl of salad too!


Mich and I both wearing a similar coloured top.


After lunch, on the bridge across to the other side of Clarke Quay.




This is a bar, restaurant, club, lounge at Clarke Quay called The Clinic. That's an Operating table and the freezer at the mortuary. Creepy~~

I met You Han, Jeff and Gerald to watch the SYF Choral Presentation.

The whole concert was very entertaining! Every choir that was on stage showed their vibrant side and had lots of gimmicks up their sleeves! Not once was I distracted away from their mesmerizing performance! Kudos to the choirs which performed! And they had an ending which I have never seen done in VCH! All the performers were on stage and on the aisle of the concert hall and had pompoms with them! It was like some kind of NDP celebration! But I guess it was to show the audience what it is to be YOUTHS! :)

I had lots of fun! And I miss the days where I sang in a full choir and miss singing with TK Choir!

All thanks to a "misunderstanding".

But I think it was a good "misunderstanding".

I went to grandparents place instead to tuition the boys. Tonight I took 3 - P1, P4, P6. But during that one hour, we had much interruption. The boys wanted to watch tv...eat...play...talk about games!!!

And I was helping Ahma with the starhub cable box thing which she then remembered dear LC would know about these stuff. So, I called LC and oops!! She was sleeping!! But she was so nice to take the call and portray her customer service side. My grandma had fun talking to her! Too bad she aint working there already so, no complimentary letter! haha! But I agree, she has a nice voice, was patient and yeah, good customer service! Thanks LC!

I came back and realised that today's 9pm show on channel 8 was the last episode!!! It was a good thing we didn't go to the movies coz if we did, the movie would have just ended and would have reached home just in time to see the credits! Oh man! No way was I going to miss the ending to that show! It has my favourite actor (Terrence Cao) and actress (Jeanette Aw)! :)

So, it's ok I missed Harry! And doubt I would be catching him on the movie screen this time! Sorry Harry!

I am going to DRIVE to MJ tmr morning to collect my cert! But with Dad...and he would be going to work after that. Btw, I got my CARD LICENCE today!! YIPPEE!! The temporary licence looked like a receipt from Popular, coz it's stuffed somewhere in between receipts in my wallet.

After going to MJ, hopefully they can find my cert fast, I would be meeting KXFZ for lunch and tea chillout! FINALLY with the 5 of us! :) We shall take many pics tmr!! :)

And the night shall end off nicely with melodious voices and performances of reknown choirs in Singapore at the SYF Choral Presentation! Anything to fill my life with music! =)

On Sat, I met my little cousins (Dad's side) at my grandparents' place for dinner. And a distant cousin (Dad's cousin's son) Zhiyong came over too! This little Pri 1 boy and my cousin, P4 girl Hui Juan are very close and they speak totally fluent Mandarin coz their parents speak to them in Mandarin most of the time! They can sustain a conversation in Mandarin for a SUPER LONG TIME! But don't think they are cheena coz they speak fluent ENGLISH without a Singaporean accent! Well, they do add in some singlish now and then.

On the other hand, my cousins on my Mum's side, totally hates Mandarin. And they can't converse and hold a conversation well in Mandarin. However, their English is good.

I have 2 extreme sides of cousins. One side's totally for Mandarin and not English. The other side is totally anti-mandarin. I am for Mandarin actually! I prefer it so much more than English! Even so, English is still the most important language in the secular world. And it's the most commonly used language.

How should I describe my feelings now...

I am feeling confused. Much as I am looking forward to the week ahead, I am actually not looking forward to it also.
This week is the last week before I start my University life at NUS. There are many things to do and many appointments planned out.

Mon - Watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with my family
Tues - Collect Cert from MJ before meeting KXFZ at Marina Kbox and meet Jeff, Gerald and Youhan to watch SYF Choral Presentation at VCH in the night.
Wed - Tuition at night
Thurs - Probably go back Ricoh to help. Meet Dawn, Jiashin, Jiawen (and probably some others also) for dinner
Fri - Final packing of stuff. If I even get down to packing earlier in the week.
Sat - College Day
Sun - MOVE INTO KR!!!!

Argh! So many things to do!
And there are so many things to pack to move into KR! Oh well, I just hope I do get it done. And that I don't miss out anything.

Dad let me drive to Ah kong's house yesterday afternoon and it was raining. Mum sat behind and she kept bingeing away coz she said she was stressed by me. But they were the ones who were stressing me! It's for my own good and I know they were worried. BUT that made me even more stressed!! No worries, we got to the destination safe and sound. However, I doubt I would get to drive anytime soon...And I am going to move into hostel soon...

I love driving! :)

And I miss doing S and Crank course. And miss parking with poles!!

~PiNkDeLigHts~ Why is it that I don't ever take the initiative to talk to you. I simply can't pluck up that courage to even just go near your side and say hi. WHY?!

Was on the phone with CI for half an hour last night trying to figure out where we would meet for lunch today. And yah...he called me once he got home - 1055pm.

Dad let me drive out to Kemb MRT! But when I got out of the car, I realised I forgot to bring my hp out of the house. So, pathetic me went to use the payphone! (I haven't touched a payphone in years! Almost forgot how to use it. And I had to use coins coz I realised I didn't have a phone card! Those were the days...)

Dad brought the phone to me and I rushed off to find CI! It was already past the meeting time CI and I set last night for 11am. Super paiseh lah! He came to Kemb MRT to pick me! He did offer to pick me at my house (coz he said he was smart and knew how to go.) But no way man! My mum was already so paranoid when she heard I was going lunch with him. She said, "Later he take you to sell how?"

No no...He didn't sell me.

We went to East Coast Park Waraku Restaurant. It wasn't fantastic and I would have rather spent the money and time at Sakae Sushi instead. Well, it was CI's suggestion.

We got there quite early about 1120am and he taught me how to do parking first. But I doubt I remember anything now...Dunno what turning here and then there. It differs from car to car. The bottom line is still "agar-ra-tion" = anyhow agar agar park. To think of it, I think I would be able to parallel park instead of the usual parking coz thats when its similar to park ing with poles. And parking with cars on the side is supposedly easier than parking without cars at all on any side. So, I shall try tmr or when I have the time.

Had lots of fun during lunch with all the stupid crapping again. As usual, he said he misses the mornings where he and I would crap non-stop, listen to 933 and sing along! I am so missed by him! :) And he said he hasn't had any other student like me who is full of fun! He has other students who happen to get him quite often too but he still clicks more with me than the others. He also has another student (who coincidentally is also called Rachel) and she fixed him as her fixed instructor! And she called him during lunch trying to arrange when he is able to teach her. Then he began comparing both of us. I tried to be a bit kaypoh and asked if she was pretty, nice, age...

CI: errr...ok lah...nice...like you like that but not so much fun.
Me: Orh...how old is she? Like me? Or 20+?
CI: HUH? Not only that lah! Got older lah...
Me: ORH!! 30+ ah?!!
CI: About there lah!
Me: Then Ok lah! Can click right? Quite compatible ah! ;)
CI: OI! What you doing? EEEE!! NO LAH!
Me: Why not? You already how old leh!

Then I stopped. OOPZ. Crossed the line. But yeah...we started talking about matchmaking sessions and all. Well, he is like someone else I know who needs someone who can stand going running on weekends (maybe Shaz!). He is going for Mizuno run on SUN (which dear SHAZ told us it's SAT! And I almost lost face coz I told him SAT! haha!) And he is going for the Triathalon next wk! And another run somewhere else and VIETNAM dunno when! Yah...any takers for such a guy?

And he told me that the other Rachel he is teaching now even tried to ask for his birthday. But he didn't tell her!! HE TOLD ME WHEN I ASKED! And even showed me his IC! MUAHAHA!! Looks like fate aint on her side!

He was nice to wait for me to find out where I was going after lunch. I called ZW and LC but the meeting was cancelled. So, I called MUM and DAD! And they were at VIVOCITY! So, I went there to be a big lightbulb. CI overheard my conversation and was laughing!!

Me: Hi Mum! Where are you all?
Mum: Vivocity. Where are you?
Me: East Coast Park...
Mum: HUH?! WHY ARE YOU THERE?! I THOUGHT YOU SUPPOSE TO GO LUNCH WITH YOUR INSTRUCTOR?
Me: Yah! I haven't finished saying! I am at the Jap restaurant at ECP lah!! Going off now!
Mum: Orh! He didn't sell you ah?
Me: NO!! Of course not lah!
Mum: Ok! Then how you coming?
Me: Yah...Going... (CI agreeing to send me to VIVO)..My instructor said he will send me there.
Mum: You sure ah?! Make sure he doesn't sell you ah!

Oh man..My mum was super crappy too...And CI was laughing at our conversation! Like mother, like daughter he must be thinking.

Outside the restaurant...

CI: Eh! You drive ah...I let you drive.
Me: HUH?!
CI: LET YOU DRIVE LAH!
Me: REALLY?! Don't want lah! Got no insurance! I don't want to crash your car!
CI: Aiya! At most you pay lah! Won't die one lah!
Me: I think don't want lah! Very scary leh!
CI: That's why must drive! Build confidence!
Me: EXPRESSWAY LEH!
CI: SO? Why you scared? I trust you to my car leh!
Me: Huh...
CI: Eh! You forgot what's my profession ah?
Me: Oh yah...I forgot...Qualified driving instructor...Ok lah..

And so, he drove the car out of the lot to an open area coz it was quite difficult to come out of the previous // lot. And he took out his triangles and extra mirror to help me. Btw, I forgot to ask/see what car was that! But I think it is a Honda City VTEC. It's quite cool to drive! And it was a manual car! The clutch was quite springy and high! Oh! I didn't stall the car at all!! UNLIKE using CDC's cars. That's the difference between old and new car. And different brands. His car was just nice to drive lah! Hmm...quite small also. Just like what I like! ;)

I DROVE ALL THE WAY TO VIVOCITY!

I went up to the Expressway!

I drove at 90km/h! I changed up to 5th gear! I chionged!

It's scary! Coz it looks like the car is moving out of lane and going to hit others! And it was moving so fast!

But CI was there and told me when to "jia you" (he remembered the joke and 'knocked my head before changing to 'cai you' - step on accelerator). And when to brake, when to change lane and all. EXPRESSWAY!!

However, we almost got into an accident when we went up the taxi pickup point at VIVO, coz the taxi suddenly braked and stopped but I couldn't brake in time and it was on a slope! So, we had to turn a lot! We almost kissed the back of the taxi. I was terrified! But CI's reaction was super fast and he managed to turn the wheel for me! Oh my! He's really skillful!

We decided to get away from the taxi queue and he just let me off at the side. We booked each other for KBOX already coz we were both singing in the car as he remembered I love 933 and tuned to that station. And also when I am able to drive out my dad's car, he would then teach me parking again. By then, I probably already know how to park lah...And it's going to be a long, long, long, long time till which my dad would let me drive his precious out on my own!

CI's trust in me to drive the car paid off coz I told Dad I drove a manual car up onto the EXPRESSWAY all the way from East Coast Park to Vivocity! And Dad called the insurance company to get the insurance top up done ASAP so that I can drive! Yeah! And I can drive on my own from TMR on! Oh yes!

SHOPPING with Mum and Dad was great! Coz Mum and I pick the clothes, I try the clothes, Mum signs but DAD pays! I love this system! hehe! And I think Dad is really beginning to hate his daughter coming out with his wife. We do nothing but spend...oops! But we had fun! And they were glad that I went out with CI coz I got to drive his car and they are more confident of me on the expressway! Oh darns...I gave my first time (on the expressway) to CI!

ps. I don't care if it's a long post or not. Coz I am happy and I type what I want. And I am glad I did for the other posts coz when I read back and think of all the driving lessons and events that passed, I know how much I have grown from there. It's an experience and memory.
